Using a Wide Angle Lens

If you are a lover of photography and use your camera seriously, yet just for fun, a must have is a wide angle lens. Great landscape photographs will be the result of using a wide angle lens. Hilariously funny photographs of people and animals can also be a result of using a wide angle lens. Loving photography means enjoying and having fun with your photographs.

One of the keys to using a wide angle lens successfully is to get in close to the subject. There will be distortion, but the photograph will be very interesting and will have detail in abundance. A wide angle lens is excellent for depth of field, as it will show clearly everything from the front of the photograph to as far as the photograph reaches back.

For the fun type photograph the angle from which the photograph is taken can create some very interesting images. If you take a photograph from above a person, their head appears long and large above a skinny elongated body. If you take a photograph from below a person, the feet will appear very large with the legs elongated into a distorted body that appears stringy. This type of photography can be such fun for creating laughter when showing the photographs to friends and family. People don’t seem to mind being distorted in a photograph. They can laugh at themselves and not be intimidated. Photographs taken of buildings and interiors of buildings can be absolutely fascinating, as the distortion adds a tremendous amount of interest to the photographs.
