Landscape Photography

Landscape photography can be very rewarding as a hobby and a business venture. There are three styles of landscape photography. Representational is for pure landscape scenery, clear and beautiful. Impressionistic photography is a scenery shot that is a good scene but it is not as clear a shot and just implies a landscape scene; it may be a far off landscape scene in the background. Abstract landscapes may be shapes and forms of a landscape but may be overshadowed by a close-up of flowers, trees, and the actual landscape subject in the background.

When capturing a scene, you may want to center the subject for interest. If you have the opportunity to photograph mountains, you may want to find a grove of trees for a closeup of sorts, framing the actual subject. You may have the chance to photograph a lake with a mountain range in the background; you may want to try to have trees at the side of the frame, for interest. Landscape photographs have no living subjects in them unless they are used for scale.

A beautiful landscape scene may be a field of sunflowers with no background except a serene cloud filled sky. Waterfalls and lakes with either a bit of foliage or sky are favorites of many. You need not have an expensive camera, but one with a filter and close-up lens is a good investment, as landscape photography is as old as photography itself. Keep your camera with you at all times; you never know when the opportunity for a great landscape shot my arise.
