Animal Photography

When photographing animals you must have a great deal of patience since the animal probably won't hold still for long. To get just the right shot you will have to be very quiet and keep alert to it's movements. If you are photographing wild animals you must be very careful as they may appear to be tame, but if you get too close they can turn on you. If you are in the wild do not follow a wild animal into the woods. You may wish to practice taking pictures by going to the zoo. This will allow you to study the animal in order to get the best picture.

Baby animals are sometimes harder to photograph since the mother will often shield the baby from people. As the animal gets older the difficult part is getting it to stay still long enough to get a good photograph. You need a camera with a high shutter speed because the animal can move very fast. Some baby animals are born with natural camouflage colors. You have to watch closely for them as they blend in with the surroundings.

Many photographers like to photograph pets. This can be anything from a kitten to an iguana. Many photographers will tell you not to work with animals or children as it can be difficult. They don't usually like to pose so you must have a great deal of patience. The animal photographer that has patience can get some very good shots and many times receive a good price for the shot.
